First Church Visit

Today we ventured over to Danville to attend church with Larry's family. Everyone was so surprised to see us as Larry hadn't told them we would be coming over. Ramsay did amazing and was quiet the entire time! He looked so cute in his jeans, white long sleeve onesie, and a blue/white sweater vest. He was one stylin' little man! After church we all went to Grandma Arnold's house for lunch and we had Lee's Famous Recipe. YUM!! And of course Ramsay was passed around from great grandma to grandma to Auntie Brielle, etc. I joke that every time we are all together that we should set a timer for each of them when they hold Ramsay so that everyone gets an equal amount!
After church we came home and Ramsay got his lunch and then he and daddy ventured off to the library for awhile so mommy could do some homework. Hopefully a lot can get done while they are gone so I can enjoy both my men for the rest of the evening!

3 Months Old

Our big boy is 3 months old already! He is getting so big and every day he just amazes us at the things he can do! He enjoys playing on his play mat in the living room and he gets so tickled at the singing sun on it that he often talks to her or laughs at her. We crack up at him when he does this! Our little man is still doing really well at sleeping all night long which is awesome! He usually is in bed no later than 8pm and sleeps until at least 7am. Sure is nice to get good sleep at night so I can survive my work days! I told a co-worker the other day that I am probably getting the best sleep I have gotten in years! By the time I get home from work and spend time with Ramsay and get things ready for the next day, I am totally exhausted and when I go to bed, I pretty much fall asleep as soon as I hit the pillow. It's all worth it though!

Another Weekend Has Gone By

It's so amazing to me how fast time goes by now days! Here it is, January 23, 2011 already and our son will be turning 3 months old in just a few days. It was just about this time last year that we learned we were expecting! It's also amazing how Ramsay seems to change every day and I know I miss out on a bunch of things being at work all day but at least Papa is home with him during the day so at least one of us gets to have a little fun!
This week is going to be an interesting one for us as Papa is staring his classes for the semester so our schedules are changing a little bit. Luckily I have a great boss who is allowing me to go into work a couple days a week so I can leave early to get home to be with Ramsay before Larry has to leave for class. He's excited about starting classes and I can't wait for him to cook us some more good stuff! He's been experimenting with making his own cheesecakes and so far, well I think I've put on a pound from eating it. They've been very yummy and I can't for him to try some different flavors with it!
We had a pretty laid back kind of weekend and didn't do to much. I love lazy weekends at home with my fellas but it makes it so much harder to go back to work on Monday mornings.

Things that have changed, or haven't, since Ramsay's birth

This morning as I was getting ready I was thinking about all the things that have changed with myself since getting pregnant and then again since Ramsay was born. Some things good, some things not so good, but it's all for the sake of our precious baby boy!

Things that changed while being pregnant:
1. Back issues - even went to a chiropractor for awhile to help with that!
2. Swelling of my feet, ankles and legs, never really my hands though.
3. HEARTBURN - I had this early on in my pregnancy, it went away for a while, then came back the last month. NOT FUN!!
4. Cravings-I never really had a lot of cravings or anything weird. The only thing I had to have was Root Beer and lots of it, and it had to be Mug Root Beer and nothing else.
5. Major weight gain! The doctors would get on me every visit about my weight and I tried and tried to control it but I guess my body just did whatever it wanted!
6. Walking-I love to walk and would walk on my lunch hours a lot but after getting pregnant I just didn't have the energy to walk far and would get out of breath so easily. Plus after the swelling started getting bad they told me to stay off my feet as much as possible. (Which of course didn't help with the weight gain!)

Things that changed since giving birth:
1. No longer have back issues!
2. Swelling went away just a few days after he was born. It was so great to see my feet look normal again!
3. Heartburn, well it still remains. Not sure what is up with that but lately it seems to be getting worse. I'm ready for it to go away!
4. I am still on my root beer kick and can't seem to shake it, which isn't a bad thing since it is caffeine free. I use to LOVE Cherry Pepsi and now, I can't stand the taste of it and it kills me!
5. I have lost half of the weight that I gained when I was pregnant and I have done that by not doing anything! lol I am working on losing the rest but I know it will take some time.
6. I am back to walking again and it feels great! I am not walking to work every day which is a great way to start the day, even which it's freezing cold out!

I also now have a variety of jobs and job titles in my life now which I find very amusing!
1. Mom - haven't decided if this is full-time or part-time since I am gone for a good chunk of the day during the week. :)
2. Full time Monday through Friday job that pays our bills!
3. Part-time college student (taking 8 hours this semester and should be my last semester at Parkland!)
4. Full-time milk production plant! YES, this is INDEED a full-time job! This is a job that is a HUGE commitment, keeping on a strict schedule to keep the supply up. I've gotten into a pretty good routine and keep myself on it so I'm use to it by now. It's what is best for our son so I wouldn't have it any other way!
5. Part-time bottle/milk supply washer. This has become my evening job as well. Washing the bottles from the day and sterilizing them as well as washing the supplies I use for milk production and getting them ready for the next day. Really, in all honesty, dealing the the milk is probably more of a full-time job, or at least it seems that way! Making sure it's put away correctly for storing the freezer, etc. This was probably the biggest fear I had before Ramsay was born. I wanted to make sure that his milk was handled properly so he wouldn't end up sick from it. It's definitely a chore!

Hard to believe that 12 weeks ago today our little bundle of joy came into the world! Time goes by way to fast but we are loving every single minute of it! I look forward to seeing his smiley face every morning when he gets up and every evening when I get home from work. He loves his Mama dearly but in all honestly, he really is Papa's boy.................

Thank Goodness For Long Weekends

Since Ramsay's arrival we have turned into quite the boring people as we rarely go anywhere or do anything. We just like to hang out at home and spend time together as a family! Plus, for myself, it's a bit hard to really leave home for more than just a couple hours since I am keeping myself on a pretty strict pumping schedule to make sure my milk supply for Ramsay stays strong, and so far so good!
Saturday Ramsay and I ventured out for a bit and did a little bit of shopping and walking so daddy could have some downtime at home alone. He's doing a great job at home with Ramsay during the week but I know sometimes it's nice to just have a little break away so you don't have to worry about Ramsay and his needs. Ramsay and I went to Toys R Us, which has now become one of our regular stores, and then we went to the mall and did some walking around and a little shopping. I got a great deal on a winter coat for Ramsay for next year and a couple more sleepers for him. Poor guy only has a couple sleepers that are 3-6 months and he'll soon be wearing those so I thought I better get a couple more! Since we don't leave the house with him to much he pretty much just wears sleepers all the time.
Yesterday, Sunday, Larry and I actually got to escape for a couple hours ALONE and we went to see a movie! It was so weird when we left home and we were walking to the car. We felt funny not having our baby boy with us and all his things. It was nice though to have some time with each other and not have to focus all of our attention on Ramsay. I am proud of the both of us for staying awake for the entire movie! A big thanks to Katie for hanging out with Ramsay for us!
This morning I awoke and pretty much started my daily routine of immediately getting out of bed and pumping and I thought about going back to bed for a bit but decided just to stay up and try to get some homework done before my little guy woke up. I went to check on the little guy and he had his face all covered with with his swaddle blanket and I moved it down to uncover his face and there he was, sucking his thumb! I left him alone for awhile and started to do some homework and then I heard "noises" coming from his room. I knew he was awake but he wasn't doing his normal talking like he does. He was doing a grunting noise. I walked into his room, looked over his crib and this is what I found!

He had managed to get his legs out of his swaddler but couldn't get his arms free so he was grunting trying to get them out! I was cracking up at him as he had never done that before. Every now and then he'll get his arms out of the top but he's never managed to get his legs out. He's so silly!!

We're all pretty much in a daily routine now during the week which is nice. I get up at 5:30am and take care of my mommy business and then get ready for work. I then unswaddle Ramsay any where between 6:30-6:45am and let him stretch a little bit in his crib before getting him out. He gets his first morning bottle about 7am which is 6 ounces. He then eats about every 3 hours during the day and stays on that schedule for the most part. He's not a big sleeper during the day at all, just take cat naps throughout. We've been trying to work on getting him to bed earlier in the evenings so that I can have a couple hours of quiet time to do homework. Some nights it works out and some nights it doesn't. Ideally he would have his last bottle of the night at 7pm and then be in bed no later than 8pm. We are doing our best to get him on this schedule but it's challenging some nights. Lucky for us though he has been sleeping through the night since he was about a month old so at least we are getting plenty of sleep during the night! Hopefully we can get his transitioned this week for an earlier bedtime since Larry starts school in a week. He'll be going to class four nights a week so I'll be on my own four nights a week which wouldn't be bad if I didn't have homework that has to be done! Ramsay and I might have to have a little chat about what mommy expects from him when daddy's at class.

Here's our precious baby boy sitting next to mommy on the couch this afternoon watching "Next Great Baker". He was having a good time smiling, talking, and laughing at mommy.

First Full Week Back At Work

This past week was my first full week back at work since Ramsay was born. It was the longest 5 days of my life and I couldn't wait to get home every night to my sweet baby boy's smiley little face! Papa is doing an amazing job being at home during the day with Ramsay so it definitely makes things easier when I have to leave them both in the mornings.

Last Sunday we ventured over to Danville to see Ramsay's Great Grandma Carolyn and Great Great Grandma Strange. Grandma Strange is so cute with Ramsay, she just can't get enough of him and kept saying he was such a "solid" boy. Larry and I got so tickled at that. Ramsay is one lucky little boy to have a Great Great Grandma in his life. We make sure to take pictures every time we see her as we don't want to miss anything with her!
