Baby Shower

Wow, what a weekend we have had! Yesterday was my baby shower and what a shower it was! There were so many people there and baby boy got so many great things, he's definitely loved and spoiled already! It was so great to see some old neighbors and old friends that I haven't seen for awhile. It's just to bad that a baby shower brought us together again but it was well worth it. Of course as soon as we got home from the shower papa had to go through everything to see what we got. I guess it was a good thing though because we did some condensing of things. I'm attaching a few pictures from the shower.
The cakes were made by a long time family friend who did a great job! The puppy dog cake was lemon flavored which is my favorite cake flavor!! It was yummy!!!

This is a picture with me and the two grandmas, Larry's mom Jeanette and my mom Paula.

I had LOTS of presents to open and there were still more that came in as I was opening them. Baby boy sure did get spoiled!

My grandma made this adorable baby blanket for baby boy. The bears on it are stencils of a set of paper doll bears that my great grandma Plotner gave me as a child. I absolutely love this! She even made a pillow to match. This will go great in the play yard in our room where he will sleep when he first comes home.

Papa arrived just in time to load up the car and take all the goodies home! He couldn't wait to get home and look through everything we got!!

Today we finished up the last of our classes so I guess we're supposed to be totally prepared for labor, childbirth, and newborn care. Yeah, to bad that's not the truth but it sounds good! I guess whether or not we're ready our little guy will be here in just over 8 weeks. As nervous as we are for it all to happen we can't wait to see his cute little face in person!

Oh Boy................

What a week this has been! School has started back up for me so I'm trying to get back into the swing of things for that. Larry is wrapping up his summer semester but starts his fall semester right away so there's no break for him!
I'm looking forward to this weekend even though it's busy with things! Tomorrow is our baby shower and I am so looking forward to seeing everyone and having a blast! My friend Andrea can't made the shower so she stopped by Wednesday evening to drop off her gift and visit. It was so good seeing her and I loved what she got baby boy!

He got a training potty seat, a package of disposable potty liners (so we can teach him to be very sanitary!), and the book "The Potty Book for boys". Papa thought the book was pretty neat and had to read it right away. I had to remind him that the book is for baby boy and not for him and that he's only allowed to read it when he's in the bathroom with little guy who is pottying!!
Today I am 31 weeks so only 9 more weeks until our precious little bundle will be here! We have so much to do yet with moving and getting settled and then getting his bedroom all ready for him! We might have to enlist the grandmas help to come over and help us get everything set up and organized and ready to go, just in case he decides to come earlier than his due date. It's a busy busy time but we're looking forward to seeing that precious little face when he arrives!

Our baby Nimbus

I just had to share this picture of Nimbus with everyone. This silly cat thinks that all the baby things we have are for him! He's going to have a rude awakening when baby boy is here and using his stroller or swing or whatever. I just hope they learn to share with each other!

Baby Classes Are Complete.......Well Almost

What a weekend this was! Seems like all we have done every weekend this month is run around and yet really not get much accomplished! Saturday morning we had a breastfeeding class which was interesting. I'm scared and nervous about taking on that venture with the little guy but I know that it's best for him and will save us some money as well! I just pray that all goes well and it will all work out okay, even though I know it will be very hard. I am a determined mama! After class on Saturday we did some running around and then papa cooked dinner for us as usual. It was amazing as always. We didn't get a picture taken of our dinner dish which I'm surprised! He fixed a brisket that we got from Old Time Meat and Deli and we also had fresh green beans and couscous. We're big fans of couscous!! It was a delicious meal!
Yesterday we did some running around in town for most of the afternoon and then finished the evening with the second half of our childbirth class. I feel more unprepared now then I did before starting the class. There's so much information to take in all at once! We will just have to wait and see how things go when it's time to see what works for us and what doesn't.
Larry has his dad's only class this week and he's looking forward to that! Can't wait to hear about the things he learns. My baby shower is this upcoming weekend so I'm looking forward to seeing everyone! Baby boy is spoiled already so this will be fun to see what else he gets spoiled with! Sunday we have a labor anesthesia class on Sunday afternoon. I'm not a fan of needles at all so this will be an interesting class to take for sure!

Busy Weekend!!

Wow, it was such a busy weekend this past weekend that I am just now getting around to writing anything! Friday evening I had a Norwex party at the house and the chef cooked all the goodies for the party. He was so cute! He made roasted potatoes, deviled eggs, meatballs, and brushetta. All of it was yummy! I know the ladies especially liked the roasted potatoes! He's for hire if anyone wants him! lol
Saturday we had running around and errands to do in Champaign/Urbana and then some more running around to do in Danville that evening. Seems like we're always on the go on the weekends!
Sunday we went to the Plotner reunion in Ogden. It was so good to see my Aunt Irene and Uncle Tom as they were visiting from Colorado. It was also great to see my cousin Alan who was visiting from Louisiana. I can't remember the last time that I saw him! It was a nice time but VERY HOT in the hall and after a couple hours I had to get out of there!!! We ventured home after that long enough to let the puppies out to potty and then headed into Champaign/Urbana for a couple more errands and then to attend our first baby class! It was an interesting class and we learned some things. They need to invest in more comfortable chairs though for all the pregnant ladies that attend. I wasn't comfortable sitting there for 3 hours! We have our Newborn Care class this Thursday evening, Breastfeeding class Saturday morning, and the second part of our Childbirth class Sunday night. Busy week ahead but it's important stuff for us to do in order to prepare for baby boy!

28 Week Check-Up

We’re at 28 weeks, 4 days today! We had our 28 week appointment yesterday and everything is going great! I had my glucose testing done and that came back perfect so no gestational diabetes here!
We have our next appointment on September 9th and we’ll have a sono that day so we’re excited to take another look at baby boy before we get to meet him in person! The midwife said they’ll be checking to make sure the fluid around him is good as well as to make sure that he’s head down. YIKES!!! That means we’re getting closer! After the next appointment we’ll be going every two weeks. Boy, time sure if flying by……………………..

Summer School is Over!!

As I sit here writing this I think about how wonderful this weekend has been with not having to worry about homework or studying for a test. It's been great! I took my final this past Thursday evening and a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders as I took the final walk to my car after class. Summer went by WAY to quickly by me sitting in a classroom 4 nights a week for 8 weeks. One class closer to being done though so it was well worth it. I have a two week break before fall semester starts but starting next weekend we begin our baby classes so we'll be busy doing those. At least that's something fun and exciting to look forward to. Of course it also means we are getting closer and closer to baby boy's arrival.
Papa has been "testing" out some of the baby items that we have. I guess he figures if he can test them out with Nimbus and they work, then they'll be just fine for baby boy when he gets here!

Nimbus got to feel baby boy for the first time a few mornings ago. Nimbus is our cuddly kitty who loves to snuggle withe me in the mornings before I get out of bed. He was laying on the belly the other morning and baby boy started moving around and the look at Nimbus' face was pretty funny. He wasn't real sure what exactly was going on underneath him. He just couldn't quite put his paw on it.
After much deliberation and going back and forth, Papa and I have FINALLY decided on a name for our precious baby boy but it will remain a secret until he is born. We're very anxious for his arrival but we still have lots of things to do to prepare!
I have added my 28 week picture to the blog as well! It's amazing how much my belly has grown since the last picture. Give me another 4 weeks and I will probably topple over!!

One Week of Summer School Left!

I can't believe it's August already! Where has the summer gone? Oh yeah, it's been passing me by as I sit in a classroom four evenings a week learning College Algebra. THAT'S where my summer has gone! This week is the last week of summer school and I am ready for it to be over with! Pregnant or not, going to class four nights a week after working all day is very draining. I'm looking forward to a couple weeks off before fall semester starts. I am taking two classes this fall but only one of them requires me to go to campus, which will be one night a week, so it will be a little easier on me thank goodness!
Larry's classes are still going well. I'm still amazed at how well baby boy and I are eating these days. Last night for dinner he made grilled prime petite sirloins, roasted potatoes, and sauteed green beans. It was delicious!

Nothing very exciting happened this weekend except for mowing the yard! We did a little shopping at All Things Kids, Inc. on Saturday and got some good buys there. I did go to Tuscola with a girlfriend yesterday and bought baby boy a couple things at the Carter's outlet and then a few things at the Children's Place outlet. Other than that our weekend was pretty uneventful. August is a VERY BUSY month for us with summer semester ending, getting all our baby classes done in a two week span, fall semester starting, and our baby shower. We might be able to relax once August is over with but I'm not holding my breath on that one.
